Oakland Signs Ford
The Oakland Raiders have signed fourth round pick Jacoby Ford. Ford is a wide receiver from Clemson. He is an extremely fast wide out with some questions about his hands. Look for him to return kicks along with Jonnie Lee Higgins, as well as push Higgins for the fourth WR spot behind Chaz Schilins, Derrius Heyward-Bey, and Louis Murphy. The Raiders have now signed six of their nine draft picks and are still waiting for agreements from 1st round pick Rolondo McClain, 2nd rounder Lamarr Houston, and their final pick, defensive back Stevie Brown.

Cool. Always nice to get a draft pick under contract before camp opens. BTW, Jacoby and relation to Cole Ford? Ex-Raiders PK??? ;-)
ReplyDeleteBeing from Carolina, I got to see a good bit of Ford. Very fast, but he needs to be spending about an extra hour a day on the JUGS machine. If he could catch the ball, we'd be talking about a 1st round guy here.
ReplyDeleteAwesome... Two primary KRs in the NFL named Jacoby. Seems like that 4th spot wouldnt garner much attention on the offensive scheme since the raiders are probably pushing for DHB to improve and Chaz to live up to flashes of potential they've seen when he was healthy.
ReplyDeleteI see Schillens as the #1, DHB at #2, Murphy at #3, and Ford as the #4. Could work out well for Oakland if DHB has improved as much as the OTA and minicamp reports say.
ReplyDelete@citadel yea thats pretty much what i am expecting. i think murphy can excel in this league as a slot guy. i hope higgins can come back to form because he was one of our most explosive players in 08 but was never the same in 09 because of the hit that laid him out in the opener against SD
ReplyDeletenice anouther signed ! get those hands right ford !! bleed and citidel your right as far as pecking order , however i just gotta realy good fealing about murphy ! dhb falters and murphy will be a realy good 2 ! gonna be go to in the slot for sure !!
