AFC West Chiefs forum.

Let me start by telling you a little about myself. My name is Wes and I lived in KC my whole life Right beside Arrowhead and have been a fan for more years than I care to admit. I'll try my best to bring some information and discussions to the blog. Nick has laid out some rules that are easy to understand and abide by. So As fans let's try to have a good place for people to come and discuss things maturely. I'm all for healthy debate and I know people have differences in opinions. But keep it civil. I'll be posting Pics and touch on some hot topics as much as I can. I look forward to talking to everyone and as time goes by I'll get better at the blog thing.

  2. what up wes...names mike. let me start by saying i hate the chiefs! haha but as far as all the teams go in the afc west the team that worries me the most for facing the raiders in the future are the chiefs. they look to have built a young, explosive offense and though i personally still feel they are lacking on d, im sure that by next years draft and free agency (and trades until then, who knows) they will be able to really help that area (like lbs and d line, and add depth to the o line for that matter). they will be competitive this season but i still feel my raiders will finish above them. i see the chargers as having peaked (but who knows, mattews could be the second coming of LT) and i dont really know about the broncos...but i feel the chiefs will challenge for the afcw crown next season (wow im talking a lot now, maybe i should have posted this on your rookie blog!). chargers are still the obvious favorites in the division, but i feel like this year oakland will take 2nd (and dino make me an author and i will go further into why i believe that lol!!!) and it will be a fight for 3rd between kc and den. but ur chiefs are poised to be scary in the future for sure. wow that was a lot of typing for a comment haha

  3. Hey I have no hard feeling about being middle of the road this year. If the Chiefs can win 7-8 games I'm happy. I never expected to go from last to first in one season. So if the Chiefs pull out a .500 record you will hear no complaints from me. Denver to me is an enigma. I can't really figure them out. No telling how they will do. I, as you, do still think the Chargers are in the drivers seat for this year. Although I do feel like if the problems persist the games are going to be a lot closer than most Charger fans would like them to be. The Raiders have made huge strides and Campbell is a good game manager. I don't think he will be the long term answer for the raiders but he is a mile better than Russel. Going to be some great games in the future with the Chiefs Offense going up against the raiders defense.

  4. I just got done looking at some highlights from dexter mccluster and this guy is obviously talented but to me he looks real small. I think the chiefs are making him a slot reciever are you chiefs fans worried about this guys size and ability to one take the hit and catch the ball over the middle but two just get completely covered by bigger guys in the nfl. What to you guys think?

  5. autumnwind... You bring up a valid argument. I'm obviously not a Chiefs fan but I think the Chiefs are hoping his speed, elusiveness and the fact that he is undersized will help him to avoid defenders and break into the open field. Sproles is a similar guy. If you get a hold of him you can bring him down with your pinky finger. But if you leave him in the open it's goodnight. McCluster will win more one on one battles than he will lose. The defense will have their hands full with him if they lose track of where he is on the field. That's the upside.

  6. I understand that and that was actually what I thought they were going to do with him when he was drafted was put him in the backfield like sproles but because it looks like they're going to make him a wide reciever it seems like he would be easy to contain with a linebacker zone style coverage sense he's not gonna be a jump and grab it type of guy and the QB would probably want to throw to him more in the open than in the middle where he could just get killed. I just know that it's much harder to track quick elusive guys coming out of the backfield catching the check down pass than it is to track a slot guy running into the middle of your zone but he will definatly be a valuable hot read on blitzes that's for sure.

  7. autumn... again, great points. He will get crushed if they use him as a traditional slot guy. But, I would like to think Haley has other intentions... maybe quick outs for McCluster beneath a deep out (to clear the CB) on whatever side he is on? Or perhaps a drag to get him away from the LB's??? Or even utilize his speed with a deep streak over the top of the safeties? Not sure... but I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with him!

  8. mcclusters as a wr will brings a small fast element to the offence , i too thought he would be utilized like sproiles . as far as getting ate up by lbs that could happen , however i think haley will utilize such as dino suggested , and also this guy could be dangerous with screens and reverse type plays ! chief i beleive hommer simpson may have been a step up from #2 , but j campbell is in a good possition and has the talent too become very good qb with oakland ! he just has too lead , manage and not blow games , in other words manage the game j. camp !

  9. One thing that works to McCluster's favor is that he played in the SEC. He's gone up against some excellent players including Rolando McClain. There is some worry that he's too small, but he's also extremely strong and tough. He was #8 for all running backs at the combine for the bench press. McMightyMouse?
