So far we've heard a lot about the teams the so-called experts are predicting to be Lombardi tycoons come February of next year. We've been subjected to the traditional ritual of sloppy championship predictions. I don't know about you, but I find it utterly boring. But what about the team destined to be this year's doormat???
Will it be the Rams?
How 'bout the Lions again? They seem to have cellar-dwelling firmly on lock.
And what about those Browns? Will they bear fruit behind re-tread players such as Jake Delhomme?
And the Buccaneers? Are they going to be the 2011 NFL draft sweepstakes winners by securing the No.1 overall pick?
Personally, I think any one of those teams makes a fine candidate. But I'm leaning in the direction of the Bucs. They are severely lacking in several key areas of the game that are significant to winning: Quarterback, Offensive line, Running Back, Wide Receiver, Linebackers, Secondary, Coaching... I think if they secure anything more than 3 wins it will be an overachieving year.
But I want to know what you guys think. Which team are you picking to be the team everyone looks at as a second bye week???
Thanks!
I'm gonna toss Buffalo into this argument as well. The four teams you mention all have at least one bright spot (Bradford in St Louis, great offseason for defense in Detroit, veteran QB with previous success in Cleveland, lot of young talent in TB). I think Buffalo is the only bad team that didn't go out and get better this offseason.
ReplyDeleteWith the 1st pick of the 2011 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills select: Jake Locker, QB, University of Washington.
Any of those teams mentioned, plus the Bills, have the "potential" to be the league's worst team. There are simply too many holes, a huge lack of offensive playmakers, and coaching / front office instability / inexperience for any of these teams to win more than four games.
ReplyDeleteAs an aside...I look forward to reading and sharing blogging opinions with you all--that ESPN AFCW blog has just gone downhill for my tastes.
I was going to say Tampa bay too but then they beat Cleveland yesterday. So my pick is Cleveland to have the first pick next year haha.
ReplyDeleteI can't really tell you who's going to be the worst team in the NFL. After 4 games, it may be possible, but not now.
ReplyDeleteWell the way my Broncos are falling by the wayside with injuries...I may have to pick them. Would not be suprised if Orton trips over his dog, spills hot coffee on Ryan Clady who then falls over, breaks his wrist and drops his bowling ball on Moreno's foot, and while hollering in pain, Knowshon slams a door on Champs hand...But I agree with Chief. Buffalo (sadly one of teams that I like as well) are the shoo-in as leagues worst. Spiller cant do it alone and we may be able to unload Brady Quinn to them here soon.
ReplyDeleteWell I think my list for the worst in the league would look like this:
ReplyDelete1. Cleveland
2. Buffalo
3. St. Louis
4. Tampa
5. Denver/Oakland
Unless Jake catches on fire and the Browns defense/special team performs magic, I can see Cleveland owning the doormat this season. Now injuries could bring other teams into play, but for now, that how I see it.
its way earlly however my moneys on buffalo or st louis to be the kings of stinkeyville !!
